Ken Millian brings over forty years of government
and corporate experience in strategic issue management
to his consulting practice. His areas of special
expertise include government relations, business-labor
relations and environmental coalition development.
Millian Byers Associates LLC also provides political
and economic risk analysis on countries in Asia
and Latin America.
Mr. Millian has served on the
Board of Governors of Wesley Theological Seminary
since 1988, including four years as chair. He is
a senior member of the Carlton Club in Washington,
D.C.
Previously, as corporate vice president of
W.R. Grace & Co., Mr. Millian handled environmental policy. He designed and directed a successful public policy program to educate decision-makers on a key health/risk issue at the state and national levels; this entailed organizing two coalitions and securing congressional support.
Earlier, as corporate vice-president and director
of Grace's Government Relations Division, Mr. Millian
served on the International Trade and Government
Relations committees of the Chemical Manufacturers
Association, and on a major Commerce Department
Advisory Committee. During this period, he also
served as president of the Foundation for the President's
Private Sector Survey on Cost Control (Grace Commission),
as chair of an association of building-products
companies, and as a director of both the National
Foreign Trade Council and the U.S. Council for
International Business.
Before joining W.R. Grace & Co., Mr. Millian spent 25 years in the U.S. Foreign
Service, holding senior management positions in Asia and Latin America. Early
in his government service, he was actively involved with international organizations
on labor and political party issues.
Mr. Millian holds a B.A. in Political
Science/History from the University of Maryland, an M.A. in International
Relations from George Washington University and
an M.S. in Business Policy from Columbia University.
He is a graduate of the National War College.
